Motherboard Practice Reviews System

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly – All Z590 XOC mainboards in one big roundup

Final thoughts

Intel’s 11th generation of Core CPUs was now really not the greatest. Whether for gamers, overclockers or enthusiasts, somehow the platform was more the uncanny valley of CPU generations. There are probably really better times to start writing motherboard reviews focused on overclocking. Also because the generation came more or less as an intermediate step to the already announced successor Alder Lake on the market, many motherboard manufacturers had directed their focus prematurely on the new promising generation, sadly for Z590 boards. Also because of this, development and market launch of some boards was delayed, which is why I could only finish the last of the 5 tests a few weeks ago. Because even if CPU and motherboard manufacturers sometimes throw unfinished products on the market, I want to at least cover all possible cases in the tests and explore them thoroughly, so that you, the readers, can then really rely on the results and experiences.

I would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you for reading, giving feedback on and sharing our posts and mine. I’ve been interested in hardware and overclocking for almost 10 years now, but it wasn’t until recently, with the inevitable home office becoming standard in an IT job, that I was able to divide my time more efficiently and devote more time to my passion: testing hardware and helping others with my experiences. It probably sounds cheesy, but everyone has that one thing that he or she burns for in life. At this point I would also like to thank Igor again for giving me the chance to write tests for his website, even though I am not a trained journalist. And even if sometimes everything becomes too much and you think you can’t keep up, as I recently did with the launch of Alder Lake, it often helps just to pause for a moment and appreciate what you’ve already achieved.

In the course of my tests and articles I was able to learn a lot about writing, photographing and testing, as you can easily see. And so I hope to continue testing hardware for you with Z690, DDR5 and other upcoming platforms and to constantly improve my methods. As already teased several times, there is already some stuff about Alder Lake with DDR4 and DDR5 in the pipeline, be it per core overclocking with V/F curves, a DDR4 vs. DDR5 single vs. dual rank comparison test or the first review of a Z690 XOC motherboard. So with that in mind, I hope you stay tuned to me and us. As always, if you have any criticisms, feel free to let us know on the forums or other social media channels. 🙂

Hallo Xaver,
