Summary and conclusion
The EKL Peter with the two noise blockers strapped on is quite a windy fellow that nevertheless sneaks up on the GPU almost silently and almost freezes it in ice. The measured values speak for themselves, but unfortunately the space requirement also corresponds to that of a family of 5 – and around 90 euros for the cooling combination is then a real investment. Cooling performance is terrific, and the acoustic threat of the reference card gives way to a quiet tugging on the earlobe when the right fan is selected.
But experience shows that where there is a lot of light, there is also a shadow or two. Which brings us to the minus. The manual is a disaster and does not deserve the name, the assembly would be easier if you had more (and especially accurate) information at hand. Without tips, however, the conversion quickly turns into a journey into nowhere for a layman.
The criticism of the finish has to be, because things like missing information and easily overtightened threads are actually not appropriate for this price range. However, the outstanding performance consoles over many shortcomings if you know what not to do wrong.
So where do we end now? For inexperienced users, we would advise against conversion without helpful tips; unfortunately, the hurdles are a bit too high here. However, if you have a bit of experience and 5 free slots on the motherboard (and never want to add anything else), you’ll have fun either playing it cool or creeping quiet, just like we did. He would have a choice. Experiment successful, case full.
