What lasts long becomes good. This is also the case with the CableMod adapters, whose long development time also depended on various changes and optimizations. In the end, it wasn’t about launching the most colorful or spacey product on the market, but one that would actually last. And in the end, we even had to wait for the ATX 3.0 specification to get the right contacts officially confirmed. It is only a small, but interesting side note that we managed to beat NVIDIA, which relied on Astron and its dimple design for ages and three days, in the standardization of the recommendation.
The fact is, the plug is harmless and above all cool even with air-cooled cards in 450 watt mode. What you might feel hot on your fingers after a longer run comes almost exclusively from the graphics card’s circuit board. You should know that before you start wondering. The Founders Edition should only be used to its full power limit of 600 watts if you use a water block. But that will be another interesting follow-up.
For today we have made it. Regardless of whether the 90° or 180° variant is used, the adapters do what they are supposed to do – namely realize a desired bend in the line so that the side wall of the enclosure can finally be closed again. And please do all this without damaging the hardware. The high development costs and the not entirely simple production with the more durable components naturally want to be paid for. So the fun is not quite cheap, but that is already not my part, because I am not CableMod or the marketing. In the end, everyone has to work that out for themselves. I can only test what works and what doesn’t. Technically.
