Power consumption

And how is our rocket-jonny now in the dark cave? Amazingly good! The principle AMD uses with the angled cooling fins literally saves my butt in this build, as it allows the warm air to be blown into the second chamber behind the GPU where it can be exhausted. A normal card would suck in the warm air it has just emitted after a short time and its cooling performance would increasingly decrease.

First, let’s look at the card in its factory state:

Now let’s save some money. Little? Well, that’s quite a lot!

Temperature

The HotSpot was lowered by a whopping 10 degrees and that with reduced fan power! Even the memory and GPU edge temperature benefit by 4 and 5 degrees respectively. The overall system now uses only 265 watts in the Port Royal Loop instead of 305 watts on average and the 40 watts saved even arrives at the wall socket!
