The RTX 3080 Ti on upscaling steroids: DLSS vs. FSR doping cure!
It’s a pity that I don’t have a worthy AMD representative for the RTX 3080 Ti in my house. So the NVIDIA card has to be the representative today, especially for the 4K and high-FPS gamers. With 12 GB of memory and a decent bandwidth, things are sure to pick up. Let’s get started…
RTX 3080 Ti 2160p native vs. upscaling
You could fire a 4K 144 Hz monitor here. After all! But where there is a lot of light, there is also a lot of shadow. Let’s see in a moment in the variances…. NVIDIA has a problem here or it’s my benchmark scene.
You can already see it on the slide (Frame Time Over Benchmark Run) that there are heavy jerks here. Only FSR 2.0 Performance really comes off well in the variances. DLSS has a powerful problem here. Is it the implementation? It’s funny in any case, because it wasn’t due to the memory.
RTX 3080 Ti 1440p native vs. upscaling
I like that because I prefer playing a shooter in 1440p with 240 Hz on the ASUS PG279QM. A perfect mix of image quality and high FPS. If the image quality with FSR 2.0 and DLSS 2.3 fits in the performance level, then yes: Low latencies for the win! What do the variances say?
Again, there are small micro-jerks with the first DLSS stages. Fortunately, you only notice them when you sort of expect them. That was much more violent in 4K and even a loaner would notice that. In 1440p this is just fine, but should be improved!

Welcome to the Frame Limiter! This is not yet the end of the CPU limit. DLSS performance is slowed down the most here. I wonder if that will show up in the metrics
Looks kind of funny how the frame limiter just cuts everything away. Again, you can see that again the variances look a little worse with DLSS. I wonder if this was due to the frame limiter Somehow I doubt it! Now I have a little preview of the second part and then we close for today.
