FSR 2.0 and 1.0 face DLSS 2.3 with the RTX 3060 Ti
Since the RTX 3060 Ti is only equipped with 8 GB of RAM, it is somewhat disadvantaged in terms of gaming in 4K. Therefore, it must be better in the case with upscaling! So a lower render resolution has to fix it and DLSS or FSR have to maintain the image quality. Then let’s see how DLSS stacks up against FSR.
RTX 3060 Ti 2160p native vs. upscaling
DLSS is clearly ahead of FSR 2.0 and, as expected, is beaten by FSR 1.0. What is already noticeable here is that DLSS Balanced was only 0.7 FPS faster and the 1% Low totally collapses. This will be most noticeable in the variances.
Oh! This doesn’t look good at all… Unfortunately, this was to be expected, because you could clearly notice these jerks during testing. What amazes me is that the variances only become acceptable with FSR Balanced. This may not only be due to insufficient memory. NVIDIA should take a look at that! Let’s hope that it will be better now with WQHD.
RTX 3060 Ti 1440p native vs. upscaling
Again, DLSS is slightly faster than FSR 2.0. This will probably be due to the Tensor cores, which most likely make the difference here. AMD can still take the FPS crown, but honestly – FSR 1.0 performance in 1440p is really a case for the eye doctor. At least in the game Deathloop!
Apart from a small jerk with FSR 2.0 Balanced, everything looks unsuspicious. That fits! So it was probably due to insufficient memory after all. Let’s continue with Full HD.
RTX 3060 Ti 1080p native vs. upscaling
You approach the FPS limiter and the CPU limit. If you compare the rates with the RX 6700 XT, the AMD card is the winner. Nevertheless, the RTX 3060 Ti does not have to hide. Both mid-range cards engage in a battle of equals.
Again, there are a few jerks that can be noticed. It is interesting to note that all three technologies are affected. This was not the case with the RX 6700 XT. I’m curious whether this will be repeated with the RTX 3080 Ti. Turn the page please!
