The pure raw performance of the GPUs in comparison
In the first step, let’s take a look at the pure raw performance of the graphics cards I used in 2160p, 1440p and 1080p resolutions. Since there is currently only the game Deathloop where you can use FSR 2.0, this game will also be used. So that each of you can understand which settings I have chosen regarding the graphics settings, there is a short video.
I did not change the advanced settings in the further course of the test. Only the resolution and the respective upscaling level. DLSS and FSR 2.0 come with only three setting options here. Quality, Balanced and Performance. FSR 1.0, on the other hand, has the familiar four levels of Ultra Quality, Quality, Balanced and Performance. I have decided to omit the quality level in relation to FSR 1.0. Due to the better clarity and in the end, the FSR 1.0 level quality would rank between Ultra Quality and Balanced. I did my benchmark run in a room at the very beginning of the game. See video:
In the scene I have the best and, above all, consistent conditions. Only DXR does not have such an impact here and thus does not affect the RX 6700 XT as much. But it’s also not about ray tracing performance per se, but about the performance boosts that FSR or DLSS are supposed to bring. Then we start with 2160p native resolution.
Who will win here was clear! The savvy observer might have noticed that the RTX 3060 Ti smears like this? I made the video regarding the graphics settings with the RTX 3060 Ti. The game even warns that the 8 GB memory is too undersized for these settings. You can see how this is noticeable in the detail slides.
Sometimes it jerks quite violently! You can see it in the variances. The fact that the RX 6700 XT achieves over 40 FPS and quite good frame times surprised me. But for my 144 Hz monitor it’s too little and I’m honest: anything below 100 FPS bores me! However, we must remain fair at this point. The RX 6700 XT just like the 3060 Ti are not true native 4K gaming cards! So we’re looking at 1440p.
The two mid-range cards feel much more comfortable here! You can already fully utilize a 144 Hz monitor in WQHD with the 3080 Ti, without upscaling! What do the details say?
There everything is as I experienced and expected. So let’s move on to 1080p!
In 1440p, the RTX 3060 Ti was still slightly ahead of the RX 6700 XT. In Full HD, the tide turns in favor of the AMD card.
The two main players give each other a real head-to-head race. The RTX 3080 Ti runs completely out of competition here, because unfortunately I do not own an opponent from the red camp in the league. A real opponent of the 3080 Ti would be the 6900 XT or the 6950 XT. Maybe one day a card like this will find its way to my home. So, now we have set the base. It’s time for a little upscaling. Turn the page!
