Summary and conclusion
I don’t think there were any major surprises in the results, we already had very similar mobile processors in the test and the graphics unit is practically identical. Here is a summary of all the results:
Battle of the dwarfs: Mini-PC benchmark comparison and overview of all models tested so far
There aren’t many words to say about the system itself, but at least there isn’t much criticism. With the RTL8125 2.5 GbE network, the A5 is well prepared for the future and the 8 watts of idle power consumption could make it an interesting small home server.
However, I noticed something negative about the fan control and the cooling in general. The Hysteresis seems to me to be set a bit too sensitive, because the frequent up and down could be improved with some sluggishness of the speed. Also, the temperatures are quite high, we have seen better results with stronger processors. According to feedback from the manufacturer, they are working on a new BIOS version, which should get at least one of the problems under control.
With the code “igorslab40A5” you can get a 40€ discount at the manufacturer’s store, the same applies to the 5% voucher “igorslab40A5” at Amazon. The price for the variant with 32GB RAM and 512GB SSD is around 390€. Not a bargain, but not a bad offer for the given performance. The few even more powerful Mini-PCs in our tests are another 100-200€ higher
The test sample was provided by Geekom without obligation. There was and is no influence on the tests and results. There was also no compensation for expenses and no obligation to publish. The manufacturer offers various discounts for the readers of igor’sLAB, but these are not affiliate links and we will not participate in the sales.
