The PMW3335 sensor
The PixArt PMW3335 is a sensor that is used in very many mice. So you can say that it is an old acquaintance. The sensor basically comes with everything you need. In addition to up to 16,000 DPI – there are 400 IPS, which are absolutely E-Sports ready! Here is the link to the manufacturer: Click!what I find very good is that you can adjust the sensor’s lift-off distance via software. Here you can choose between one or two mm. This prevents unwanted mouse pointer shaking during gaming. ASUS has made a good choice with the sensor in my opinion!
The ASUS Armoury Crate Software
I already introduced this to you in the article about the ASUS ROG Strix Scope RX. Those who get their peripherals exclusively from ASUS will find all their devices here and can customize them there.
Under the Keys tab, you can configure the functions of the individual mouse keys as desired.
Here are the usual settings regarding the DPI and the polling rate. What not every mouse or the included software can do is that the key response time is adjustable. I would have appreciated more courage from ASUS at this point. Why courage? The fact that the key reaction time is adjustable is basically very praiseworthy, but I would have been braver with a setting of 0 to 32 ms. Why? This would have had a positive effect on the latency and would have been a step up in terms of e-sports. It might be possible to adjust this via a firmware or software update. I would like to see that in place and would appreciate it very much!
Of course, the usual settings for RGBists must not be missing. There you can let off steam to your heart’s content! An important note: If you want to get a longer battery life, you should not set the illumination too bright or better turn it off! Otherwise, this costs runtime; here, you have to know for yourself what is important to you. Lots of bling-bling or longer bang-bang on the screen? Remains in the end a matter of taste!
The customer can still perform further calibrations here. As already mentioned, you can set the lift-off here, for example!
The customer can also influence the energy management. On the one hand, you can be warned in time when the battery has reached a certain level. Here I recommend the 25% mark, which is quite enough! Furthermore, you can adjust the settings for automatically switching to “sleep mode”. If you just go to eat or to the toilet, you don’t have to use up your battery unnecessarily. The mouse wakes up all by itself with a short jerk, without having to press a button. I like it very much!
The system load on the part of the ASUS Armoury Grate software turns out to be manageably low here. Just for information, not only the mouse is connected to the system, but many other ASUS hardware is in use. Resource management and the ASUS software: It fits! Let’s go to the last page…
