Optics and haptics
The ASUS ROG Pugio II is a mouse made for both left and right-handed users. The design is symmetrically laid out and is suitable for all common handle types. Of course, you have to take the individual hand size into account here. For me, the mouse fits perfectly on the palm or fingertip grip.
You also get two thumb keys on each side (left/right). These are very easy to reach if you don’t have “toilet lid-sized hands”. Yes, ASUS has also given the mouse RGB. On the one hand, the mouse wheel and the ROG logo are staged here, and on the other hand, the lower rear edge. The lighting is Aura-Sync compatible and can be adjusted to your liking or disabled altogether!
You’ll find more switches and buttons on the underside. Here you can select the operating mode (dongle, Bluetooth) with the right switch. Additionally, the pairing button is installed here to pair the mouse with the desired device via Bluetooth. And then comes my personal point of criticism:
The DPI button! You have to hold this down and switch through the DPI levels via the mouse wheel (differentiated by color, the mouse lights up briefly). In doing so, you must not click any other key by mistake. This is a bit awkward and for me personally, a button on top of the mouse would have been better. Now it has to be said that you don’t need the DPI button as often as the left or right mouse button. Therefore, you can just about live with it. Only the e-sportsmen might have to suffer a bit here!
The ASUS ROG Pugio II is of course made of plastic, but that doesn’t mean the mouse feels like a plastic bomber. Quite the opposite! The mouse feels very good in the hand and the materials are of high quality, resulting in a very well-made mouse. Regarding the weight, the mouse with its 102 g does not play in the league of ultra-light mice. But she is no heavyweight either! Considering everything that is built into the mouse, it is still acceptable in terms of weight. After all, not everyone likes the lightweights that fly over the table at the slightest touch!

For those who get sweaty hands quite quickly, I might recommend tape modding on the rather smooth surfaces. It could get a little slippery otherwise. Despite the slight roughness of the mouse keys and the cover. Personally, the materials still convinced me. I also get sweaty hands quickly myself, but at no point did I lose control of the mouse. Still, I can not speak for everyone! Let’s take a look at the sensor and the ASUS software. Turn the page!
