Latencies and FPS with the RTX 4090
Before I show you the comparison of the RTX 3080 Ti to the RTX 4090, let’s take a look at the 4090 by itself first. This is clearer. I’ll put something in front now. The Ryzen 7 5800X is an RTX 4090 UHD brakeman. The CPU limits on the test map (partially), because the GPU load fluctuates between 85 – 98% (in UHD!!!) depending on the scene. With DLSS you are fully within the CPU limit. This was completely unexpected. But look for yourself:
The RTX 4090 can be called the first full-fledged UHD card. See:
Native with DXR already 125 FPS. Very nice. But it is not quite enough for 144 Hz. Without DXR, of course, it’s a blast. Up to 300 FPS in QHD! But we’ll look at that another time. Today it’s about the maximum perversity in UHD. More details are available here.
We also see the CPU bottleneck in the latencies. The difference between ultra performance and native resolution is just over 3 ms.
So, to make it easier for you – there is now everything in direct comparison.
RTX 3080 Ti vs. RTX 4090
The additional performance of the RTX 4090 is – almost double. To be precise, the RTX 4090 (native vs. native) is faster than the RTX 3080 Ti by a factor of 1.85. NVIDIA doesn’t quite deliver what was announced. Still, respectable and you should also not forget that the Ryzen 7 5800X even becomes a bottleneck natively – in parts.
What do we take away from the round? There is no reason not to use NVIDIA Reflex. In other words, turn on Reflex and Boost – wherever possible! I’ll leave the DLSS quality comparison at this point. We already know DLSS 2.3 and there is basically nothing special to report here. That looks quite different with the next title. Turn the page…
