The board design is simple and uncluttered. Such a simple solution is sufficient for the measured maximum of 34 watts of board power, which is supplied via the three 12 V supply pins on the motherboard slot alone. We see these pins on the bottom right and just above them the coil with 1 µH in the input area, which serves as a pure longitudinal choke. Intel relies on just two phases for the supply, which function as normal step-down converters. High- and low-side are discretely equipped with single N-channel MOSFETs from Sinopower.
An SM4378NSKP with a maximum of 49 amps for the high side and a somewhat stronger SM4507NHKP with a maximum of 60 amps for the low side are used. The two coils used have an inductance of 220 mH each. Beyond that, we find a few more voltage converters for the sub-voltages and the memory in the form of four 1 GB modules of the Samsung LPDDR4X. There are no other big exciters here. The thermal paste on the GPU is almost thermal glue and is very hard.
The installed MX25U6432F flash memory from Macronix is also interesting. It is Serial NOR Flash Memory. This is flash memory that consists only of NOR gates and can be used as a flexible replacement for EPROM. This NOR flash is connected via the bus system and must be filled with content from the motherboard’s UEFI. This is exactly the reason why this card only works with the appropriate microcode, which has to be stored in the respective UEFI.
On the back side, we can see very nicely from the traces that only 8 lanes are electrically connected. PCIe 4.0 is used, which is completely sufficient.
The cooler
Here Gunnir has made it quite simple and cut a block of strand profile and reworked it. The cooler only cools the GPU and the four memory modules, the rest remains free, including the voltage converters. The temperatures stay below 70 °C, which is completely within the green range.
With that, we are already through, because there is not much to disassemble.
