The Radeon RX 7900 XTX offers 96 CUs with a clock rate of 2.3 GHz and a combined 24 GByte GDDR6 on a 384 bit interface – a total of 61 TFlops of computing power with a board power of 355 watts. So much for the theory of the new flagship of the RDNA3 armada. The temporary graphics card prison of the RX 7900XTX is now in front of us. Black, dark and with clear edges.
Shall we rip them open and unwrap them now? AMD has also come up with something more for the clamshell box this time. The origami masters were once again allowed to have a go, even though NVIDIA let it rip even more. We are rather conservative here,
There she lies now, the Black Beauty and waits only to be taken out by living hands. Ok, let’s do that and lo and behold, there it is. And no, this is not a render image, but real (and also downscaled for the website) insanity, because I am shooting in 8K.
Let’s now take a look at the dimensions: With a length of 29 cm from the outer edge of the slot bezel to the opposite end of the cooler cover, the card is still relatively short (even compared to the GeForce RTX 4090 FE and RTX 4080 FE).
On the top, we primarily see the two 8-pin sockets for the external power supply. The red rally stripe had to be and otherwise we still see a translucent light strip illuminated by background LEDs.
The height of the inserted card turns out normal with 11.5 cm from the upper edge of the PCIe slot to the upper edge of the cooler cover, even if it could have been lower. But even here, you still take away important centimeters from the GeForce cards in terms of installation options in the case. We don’t want to discuss the bending radii of the power supply connections, as the 12VHPWR clop has already been discussed enough.
If you now turn the 1799 gram card (cleverly nudged into the 1.8 kilo weight limit) backwards once, you can see the heavily pigmented backplate.
If you now follow the back to the rear, you will see a closed event with four threaded holes. Here, then, screwings may be made with pleasure. The PCI SIG has provided standardizations for this as well, but the hole pattern has already been strongly individualized. However, AMD does not offer a real holder in the scope of delivery.
The thickness of the card is around 4.5 cm from the PCB, with another 0.5 cm to be added for the backplate. This gives the total width of 5 cm. Which would almost be the end of the round trip, when we take a quick look at the slot panel (bracket). Tidy variety in full width. With the two DisplayPort 2.1 ports, an HDMI 2.1 jack as well as a real USB Type-C port (hello VR community!), we’ll end the navel-gazing of the Radeon RX 7900XTX for today and put back 100 Euros MSRP. After all, there are two cards. Please continue browsing for the last time!
