Sapphire Radeon RX 7900 XT 20GB Review – The cheaper variant isn’t the worst!

Summary

Sapphire undercuts the former RRP of the Radeon RX 7900XT of 1049.99 Euros by 150 Euros with the Sapphire Radeon RX 7900 XT 20GB and is quite good at around 895 Euros. The higher Nitro+ is also in a completely different price league with 100 Euros more. From this point of view, the compromise between effort and performance really works. The performance is on the same level as the reference card and sometimes even a bit higher, but only the missing RGB lighting has to accept real cuts, which can certainly be tolerated.

The PCB makes a very high-quality impression and the cooler including pads is rock solid. In the end, there is almost nothing that speaks against the Sapphire Radeon RX 7900 XT 20GB, but a lot for it. The performance is roughly on par with a GeForce RTX 4070 Ti when you consider the sum of average FPS, the P1 Low and the DXR performance. Only in terms of efficiency does NVIDIA (not only) have a clear lead in this performance and price range.

The ray tracing performance has at least made a considerable step forward and is now on par with the biggest Ampere cards. This also has to be acknowledged, even though there are still up to double-digit lags in DXR performance to be observed. But the gap has narrowed. This also applies to things like the excellent video encoder. AMD has completely turned telemetry on its head in RDNA3, which has also worked well in most respects. The fact that you can finally read out a TBP that is reasonably accurate, even if it is only a good estimate, is a big step forward. NVIDIA has long relied on real monitoring of the rails via shunts, while AMD now at least uses the summation of all values from the DCR and some mathematics, which is also possible. Even Sapphire doesn’t slip up in this respect.

The graphics card was provided by Sapphire for this test. The only condition was compliance with the blocking period; there was no influence or remuneration.

Procedure of the raffle and participation

The duration of the draw is from 13.03.2023 to 10.04.2023, 08.00 hrs. Within this period, the registered users of our forum online will be given the opportunity to participate in this raffle free of charge by posting in the relevant forum thread. Posts received after the closing date will not be considered for the draw. It is also not permitted to participate in the competition with multiple user accounts. Thus, it is strictly prohibited to use multiple email addresses/profiles in the forum to increase the chances of winning. Multiple accounts, if we notice them, will be excluded from the draw.

Eligible

The competition is open to natural persons who are resident in Germany and Austria and who have not yet reached the age of 14. Have reached the age of majority. Participation is voluntary, non-binding and not dependent on the purchase of any goods or services. If a participant has limited legal capacity, the consent of his or her legal representative is required.

Not eligible to participate in this raffle are all persons involved in the design and implementation and employees of the operator and their family members. Winning, notification and transmission of the prize

The winners will be determined after the closing date by a random draw among all participants. The winners of the raffle will be informed promptly by direct message in the forum and by e-mail about the prize. The prize will only be handed over to the winner or to the legal representative of the underage winner. An exchange, a self-collection as well as a cash payment of the prize are not possible. Any costs incurred for shipping the prizes within Germany will be borne by the operator or the participating companies. However, any additional costs abroad associated with claiming the prize shall be borne by the winner. The winner is also responsible for any taxation of the winnings abroad.

If the winner(s) do not respond by 17.04.2023 (reply to the winner’s PN in the forum or e-mail), the prize in question will be raffled again in the forum.

Termination of the raffle

The organizer expressly reserves the right to terminate the raffle without prior notice and without giving reasons or, if necessary, to extend the term. This applies in particular to any reasons that would disrupt or prevent the draw from proceeding as planned.

Privacy

In order to participate in the raffle, it is necessary to provide certain personal data as part of the community membership. The participant assures that the information provided by him/her, such as the email address, is true and correct. The organizer points out that all personal data of the participant will neither be passed on to third parties nor given to them for use without consent.

In case of winning, the winner agrees to the publication of his forum nick. This includes the announcement of the winner on the operator’s website and its social media platforms. The participant may revoke his declared consent in writing at any time. After revocation of the consent, the collected and stored personal data of the participant will be deleted immediately.

Applicable law

Questions or complaints in connection with the competition should be addressed to the operator. The contact information can be found in the imprint. The sweepstake of the operator is exclusively subject to the law of the Federal Republic of Germany. The legal process is excluded.

Severability clause

If any provision of these Terms and Conditions of Participation is or becomes invalid in whole or in part, this shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions of these Terms and Conditions of Participation. In place of the invalid provision, the legally permissible provision that comes closest in economic terms to the meaning and purpose expressed in the invalid provision shall apply. The same shall apply in the event of a loophole in these Terms and Conditions of Participation.
