Sort it out! MSI focuses more on RTX cards than AMD cards

If you take a look at MSI’s AMD 7000 series cards, you will notice that the selection is dwindling. Hardware Unbboxed has also noticed this again. Igor had already discussed this at the time of RDNA2, for example why certain cards are no longer sampled. The answer at the time was the same as it is now: Radeon cards were not the focus and the profit margin was too low. Igor had even calculated this many months ago, because the manufacturer had already spoken of margins of around 5 percent at that time.

Did I miss this story? MSI has been completely removed from AMD's Radeon 7000 series, all existing products have been discontinued and they never released a 7700 XT/7800 XT. This all seems to have happened very quietly.

According to this, there are only 3 AMD models from the 7000 series that the company still offers. MSI was already no longer involved in AMD’s 7700 XT/7800 XT series, which happened relatively quietly. However, this does not mean that the cooperation between MSI and AMD has come to an end. However, the company has confirmed that it is focusing more on the RTX cards from NVIDIA instead of those from AMD for the time being. However, the focus on AMD motherboards will continue to be promoted. Igor asked the headquarters directly about this.

The fact that the focus is more on this can be clearly seen in the product comparison between the 40 series and the 7000 series. Here, there are only 4 products from the 7000 series from AMD, while NVIDIA clearly dominates with more than 140 models. However, it is no wonder that the focus is initially on motherboards, as AMD’s “Zen 5” is likely to be rolled out soon and the first companies are already preparing for this. Corresponding BIOS updates are already being released so that users can enjoy the new Zen 5 with their AM5 motherboard in the future. It remains to be seen how the future between AMD and MSI will develop. At the moment, NVIDIA is clearly dominating over AMD. In addition, MSI is not an exclusive AMD partner with slightly better conditions, especially as AMD has been able to acquire other partners such as Biostar. If there’s nothing left of the cake because too many eaters have to share it, you just go and eat somewhere else.
