Summary
You can look all you want – you won’t find a real mistake. The short PCB is purposefully equipped, you can hardly hear annoying coil whine, the cooler cools very well and also reasonably quiet, the lighting is present but can be switched on and the general look rather simple and timeless. You can live with that and there are also no bells and whistles that increase the costs unnecessarily. You have to blame NVIDIA and Samsung for the lack of efficiency, but KFA2 can’t do anything about that.
Since the chip is already a potential glutton, the few watts more, which KFA2 has allowed the card at the power limit, are then no longer important. After all, it beats a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti FE hands down, both in terms of performance and noise. Of course, many things are also a compromise between price and performance, so it’s no surprise that the card remains quite light despite its size. It is nevertheless stable, even if more cooling surface could have been accommodated.
What else? The graphics card does what it is supposed to do and does it sovereignly. Sometimes less is more, at least when it comes to optics.
Conclusion
The current street price starting at 880 euros and the availability over the last few days have then tempted me to a purchase tip, because you can only recommend what is available. At the moment it can hardly be cheaper, especially as one hears that various things that are needed for production are also becoming scarcer again. A causal chain with lots of unknowns. Buy? Why not? The card is (currently) available and if you don’t want to mine or sit behind a screen 24/7, you won’t die from the electricity bill. SG stands for Serious Gamer and not for Very Frugal. A Radeon RX 6800XT isn’t more frugal either, but it’s usually much faster. It’s just that they don’t always exist. And certainly not at this price. Ergo: you can’t have it all at once, unfortunately.
