The order: Digital clock box for 9,99 Euro
The clock (I’ll show you some more pictures in a moment) was unfortunately defective. It didn’t even run for 20 minutes and then nothing worked. The attempt to find this product at Temu failed as well, because both this item and the corresponding seller were no longer listed. Send back or still look in? The drama with Temu is that Temu first contacts the seller for a refund and return. Stupid only if it no longer exists. My own research on the product was sobering. And that’s where we come to the point: Do you really go through the drama for 10 euros? Maybe the thing can still be repaired.
Unpacking and testing
So, the clock is set up and fed with a clean 5 volts from the powerbank.
Yes, it runs for now. On the back, you can install a 2032, which is a 3.3 volt coin cell as a backup battery, in case the power is gone. Then the settings remain stored. I managed the settings, even if the manual was completely in Chinese.
It didn’t even go pfft. Just went out and then it was dark.
We see: No more current flows and the clock is silent.
Conclusion
It didn’t even last one hour of operation and it won’t have disappeared from the range for no reason at all. Money gone, time gone, desire gone. Therefore, today we give the red thumbs down for the last time!
Privacy
Here, too, you have to be very careful. Temu obviously uses the data sets very extensively and sells them e.g. to mail distributors. I had set up my own mail and this address was spammed mercilessly, starting only a few hours after opening the account, although nobody could actually know it. These were dubious providers around the globe. Temu never received a declaration of consent for this. In addition, an attempt was made to reset the password of the specifically used PayPal account. So it can be assumed that the PayPal data is not as safe as Temu writes, even if Temu does not directly imply it. But just the knowledge of the mail address is enough…
Conclusion and summary
As Temu wrote me so nicely – I should please rate my purchases. That’s what I did. Not quite as Temu would have liked, but more detailed and with more information. And yes, I still hope that some (potential) Temu buyers can be educated to non-buyers. The only thing you can feel secure about with Temu is that you have mostly squandered your money senselessly. Yes, there may be a few exceptions, but apart from various silicone products, I found nothing apparently harmless there.
The individual products were, with very few exceptions, definitely not worth the money. And even working products, like the headphone stand, were either contaminated with black arsenic as a dye, or the solder joints of an illuminated glass ball contain more lead than Lake Constance has water, or my finger had to bleed and not only my wallet. It’s always the details that the layman usually can’t see unless he puts a Ferrari on his desk and takes a closer look.
But that’s exactly what makes Temu and the goods offered there by the manufacturers involved so red-hot. Even things that are supposedly okay can become a nasty trap without being noticed. It did not go also around to destroy here a dream of the cheap purchase. It’s just that we must finally understand that, above a certain limit, things simply can’t get any cheaper. Only worse. And that’s where the circle closes. There are simply no miracles, not even with Temu.
