Interior structure
The base plate is held by four cross screws in the corners and can be quickly removed. The frame for a 2.5″ drive as well as SSD, RAM and BIOS battery are revealed.
So, depending on the purchased version, an additional storage medium or more RAM is quickly installed here, very good! The aluminum frame of the 2.5″ bracket is also used as a passive cooler for the controller of the M.2 SSD. The heat conduction pad is quite thick, but this way the existing cooling potential can be used well.
Removing the SSD reveals an Intel WLAN card from the 7265NGW model. Both M.2 slots are conveniently labeled with their respective sizes of 2280 for the SSD and 2230 for the WiFi port.
The memory is two 8GB DDR4-2666 sticks with CL19-19-19 timings. The exact model is CT8G4SFS8266 and is not listed on the manufacturer Crucial’s page.
The cooling is very similar to that of a notebook, as you can see here. Under the grille, which appears so large from the outside, a large part is covered by plastic from the inside.
However, a hole has been left directly above the fan’s air intake and some space for circulation has been left all around.
