Battlefield V in first optics comparison: RTX Off versus RTX On from Normal to Ultra with HiRes images and video

Division of labour is a nice thing, especially when your system has to be "persuaded" manually for the 1809 update of Windows and you are unfortunately not one of those who have been pampered with pre-keys. But better late than never and together with colleagues, working and playing is twice as much fun. This is written by someone who hardly finds time to play really enjoyable, unfortunately.

Despite the undeniable (optical) effect of the reflection effects that the DXR option of Battlefield (based on NVIDIA's raytracing) makes possible, we believe that all the functionality is still noticeably in the development stage and you probably still need to gain enough experience and skills from the game developers. It's like in the game, where the skills decide victory or defeat.

Apart from various configuration errors as well as the biggest performance losses (especially for leaf reflections), which have now been fixed, the performance with activated ray tracing still decreases very much, often even by half and more . Of course, all this also depends very much on the respective scene. But this also determines the playability of such a title, because with optics alone you as a player nothing tears.

The visual advantage of the ultra configuration is also really difficult to see with the naked eye in the middle of the game (except for the collapse of the FPS rates), so that as a player you can be satisfied with the normal mode without too much frustration. The good news is that the GeForce RTX 2080 used has held up pretty well in terms of performance, but only in Full HD. A complete test will come in the next few days, then we will also test the other cards.
