As a first step, I inspected the card from the outside to see if anything was visible and what steps were necessary to disassemble the card. The only thing I noticed was that one spacer ring had a little too much air at the top and bottom. Well, but was that the cause?
Then a few screws were removed and the graphics card was disassembled into two manageable parts. Here you can see the dried thermal paste and the dirty pads and you can see that a part of the thermal pad was crushed under one of the spacer rings. They probably didn’t look too closely during assembly. Unfortunately.
If you remove the board from the backplate by loosening the screw connection from the board side, you can also see that nothing is cooling. No wonder, it’s plastic. So you can’t start here. Or maybe you can? Let’s wait and see…
