Cooling Fans Practice Reviews

The marathon starts: Review with 6 case and radiator fans from be quiet! Black Noise, Corsair, Cooler Master, Noctua and Thermaltake

It’s very similar to what I did when I tested it as a case fan. The Cooler Master Frame MF120 Halo loses again. Because the rather poor performance is again out of proportion to the occurring sound pressure level. With Thermaltake, the operating noise is still in an acceptable ratio to the SPL values, whereby especially at 500 rpm, the Noctua fan is just ahead of the Corsair fan, if you put both in relation to each other. The noiseblocker loses completely, but that’s because of fan damage.

Next, let’s look at the frequency analyses of all measurements for all fans measured and all three speeds tested. The graphics speak for themselves, especially since you can see here with the Noiseblocker exactly what I meant on the first page with the error analysis, because you not only hear the error, but you also see the cause quite clearly.

So, now we come to the defective fan, which was noticed in the “free flight” at 2000 rpm as a case fan only because of its somewhat lax performance, but otherwise still seemed unsuspicious. Now the part is beeping and vibrating and you can see a funny rectangle curve in the middle of the graphic in the range between approx. 1.15 and 1.21 KHz. THIS can be heard very obtrusively and it is probably a mechanical cause that the fan starts to vibrate and resonate with slight resistance / back pressure. The rest is then done by the competing electronics.
