Summary and conclusion
Even though I have criticized the somewhat fiddly installation of the Fuma 2 series here again, I have to mention one special feature: It is practical that the Fuma 2 can be attached or removed together with the built-in fans. Two narrow recesses through the heat sink form a “tunnel” for the screwdriver. Visually I find the Rev. B personally better, the cover and fan now have the identical black color. In the first version, the gray fans with light gray rubber corners were a nice contrast, but the new uniform color scheme can convince.
As far as the cooling results are concerned, quite little has changed. However, you cannot expect big leaps from a maximum of 300 RPM more in this regard. Unfortunately, more has happened in terms of volume. Overall, however, I would rate Rev. B of the Fuma 2 as a better version of an already good cooler, even if the only notable difference is native compatibility with new sockets and slightly more available cooling power. You can buy this with a somewhat louder system, but you don’t have to.
Since 2019, however, the competition has not slept either and undercuts the Fuma 2 Rev. B not in terms of cooling performance for mid-range processors, but certainly in terms of price. For the original 45-49€ street price, the Fuma 2 Rev. A was just a really solid choice for almost any processor, but meanwhile the price has climbed more towards 60€. And that’s exactly where the new revision gets in again. So Scythe offers a good cooler again here, but it is sold above its value, at least currently in my opinion.
The test sample was provided by Scythe without obligation. There was and is no influence on the tests and results. There was also no compensation for expenses and no obligation to publish.
