The latest rehash of the Ducky ONE comes with a whole flood of new features that are almost unnoticeable at first glance. Many improvements took place under the hood and make the new full-size keyboard a true jack-of-all-trades. What is also immediately noticeable in this concrete model: it polarizes! Bright yellow, Cherry MX-Brown switches and PBT keycaps without translucent digits despite RGB illumination. Sounds like a crazy combination? Read how crazy it is in the test.
Unboxing
Without beating around the bush, we liberate the good piece directly from the packaging. Nothing has really changed here compared to the ONE 2.
Unfortunately, a lot of plastic is used unnecessarily here as well. Although the keyboard actually sits well in the cardboard box, it is wrapped in foil with an additional blister cover.
The color is undoubtedly “difficult” and is guaranteed not to appeal to all readers. But don’t worry, the ONE 3 is also available in more “mass-compatible” colors, which I will attach to the gallery on the last page.
Technical information about the switches used is hidden underneath the keyboard – in this case, the key data of the Cherry MX Brown switches.
There is nothing to complain about in terms of workmanship, and the keycaps of the new model are also properly deburred. But more about that later.
More shape and color impressions
Besides the keyboard, there are some keycaps, tools for removing the keycaps and switches, a guide, some stickers and a high-quality connection cable in the box.
I will roughly discuss the build quality and the changes compared to the predecessor in the next section.
