Swarm software and auto updater
The software is self-explanatory. If you’re not a real dulli, you don’t have to consume another wall of text now. I have therefore simply packed the most important overview pages into a gallery and who would like may also scroll through here curiously. Yes, the German version reads a bit, well, bumpy in places, but that’s what globalization brings. It’s nothing to bring a blush to your face. The installation is quick and the resource requirements are also kept within limits. Enough has already been written about Aimo, I don’t need to repeat that. Try it out and have fun with it. Or all off or on white. Or whatever. As long as the LEDs all play along. Let’s first look at the global and update part for the firmware:
There is also a lot of reading and clicking material for the keyboard. But it’s not a mental explosive either, it’s really self-explanatory. And it’s still colorful, even in real time with the LED entertainment.
And you don’t really need to practice with the mouse. You can really configure a wolf here.
Which then dutifully reported what there was to report. Testing and trying out is always one thing (which even I, an old bone, still enjoy tremendously), but getting it to the point in a reasonably exciting way is unfortunately another (which takes time). And yes, I really need to practice again a bit, also to hide the emotions in the text better.
Summary and conclusion
It was nice to test input devices again after a long time, even if I didn’t quite stick to the usual pattern here and now. The Spielkind factor was at least one level too high. But be that as it may – I don’t like to write off the marketing slides, even though it never quite works without them. Anyway, I got it over with and I’m not unhappy with the two products either, on the contrary Yes, it glows like hell, but wasn’t that actually the way I wanted it? Let’s put it this way: the parts are extremely polarizing, because such a beacon is certainly not to everyone’s taste.
Which finally brings me to the conclusion. Both Roccat products are visually striking, almost unique in their play style and design, and solidly crafted to boot. The functions are well suited to overwhelm you in their diversity, but the quite well-structured software then at least still politely performs a voluntary euthanasia. Sometimes less would certainly be more, but then again no one wants that. I didn’t use all the side buttons of the mouse, because my fat fingers then catch everything at the same time anyway. And the Roccat XP Air is rather not for smaller hands. But it is nice and light and glides like an elf over the mouse parquet.
On the other hand, the awards are always such a thing, because purely objectively, the LED errors on the keyboard are already a criterion that should not be disregarded, and I also remained firm. The most annoying thing is the F1 key, which is permanently out of line in terms of color (see picture below), because it is really irritating. Well, that’s why the good Lord invented the warranty and RMA, so that will also be solved. Only I wanted to go through the test first. And you can, as you usually do, cap the flare completely or set everything to a color where it’s not as noticeable. Nevertheless, it should not be swept under the carpet, because it should have been noticed during the function test at the factory. That’s what the QC is for.
The keyboard is equally well manufactured and visually quite a real stunner if you are into that kind of thing. But in the end, that is solely a matter of personal taste. Just like the price, which then settled way up there exactly where you already need a respirator in order not to have to give the bankrupt vulture in a nosedive by snapping breath. I mean, almost 380 euros for a colorful complete inferno is pretty hefty.
However, all the competitors at this level are now similarly tough. Oh well, if you want to be beautiful, you have to suffer, the table was expensive enough anyway. And who now thinks I ever get all this stuff for free anyway – I have kids and the problem is always that one of them happens to have a birthday whenever just such things are tested here. So I also privately jumped into my pocket and bought at least two more mice. In black, by the way. Because a child rarely comes alone. As a father, you know that.
The test objects were provided by Roccat for testing despite prior warning. Moreover, there was no obligation in terms of content or any other form of influence. Roccat is not an advertising partner of our site and is not affiliated with us in any way.
