Both the Roccat Vulcan II Max and the Roccat Kone XP Air are not new, but somehow they are a bit different. Of course, this first raises the serious question of the sense or nonsense of a review long time after the release, long after the usual media have already more or less gratefully embraced these two products. Now, you can argue about RGB and hate it with dignity or roll your eyes in love – what sometimes has to, that has to. And since my gaming table (when you don’t turn it off by pressing a button) already lights up like a mixture of Christmas tree and Chinese night market, I bravely decided to add two additional spotlights here and dare a self-experiment.
So the whole thing is more like an experiment to what limit organic things like the human eye in interaction with the brain and stomach are still resilient. However, I have to spoil in advance that in the end I hopelessly succumbed to the charm of the colorful artillery. There’s something about taking an unfiltered look at the RGB sun once in a lifetime. Colorful to the point of genius, and in an emergency you can always pull the plug or take a deep breath on the balcony.
That’s why there is another kind of review today, where usability and technical data are also presented, but not only. We’ve been through all of this umpteen times before and it’s annoying to just repeat and repeat the specs. That’s why today’s review is also a kind of self-reflection, and it does raise the question of who really needs something like this in the end. Me, for example. Because it starts early in the shaving, where my nice beard butcher colorfully announces which contact pressure is now the optimal. As if I wouldn’t notice that myself. Life without RGB guardianship? Yes, of course, goes quite, but shaving more beautiful has something.
Product presentation and introduction
Well, I am of course also by my two boys (8 and 10) a little preloaded, because the two pens can not get it colorful enough. They are already doing it anyway. But where does good taste end (does it even exist?) and at what point does it become silly? I have become very patient over time and can definitely listen (and watch). The magical attraction of shining marvels of technology to such young shining men (and also the old, already irradiated man) is namely unbroken and so Roccat has certainly done everything right with both products.
After all, it’s not just the children’s eyes that shine so madly here. But also just. It doesn’t have to please everyone, but if it does, it doesn’t spill the beans. The Vulcan II Max is such a good example that it can and may shine anywhere. Even down below, when you rattle your fingers on top. The palms of the hands are then sunk into the soft red light district as befits their status. That’s something you really have to dare to do first. Roccat was quite painless there, so thanks for that!
In general, however, it is important not to lose sight of the big picture. For the pure paint bucket orgy, there is certainly also AliExpress and the matching accessories, only then it is usually more appearance than reality and the keys quickly fly around your ears. But how and where do you find the compromise between a lightsaber and decent input devices that are good for something besides glowing? Because at the end of the day, it’s no use if you have to play the dying swan all the time due to a lack of technology in the game. The main thing is well lit. And where can you find the matching mouse for the keyboard, which should also be wireless? If you don’t want to be completely in the dark, you can choose something from the Roccat shelf. After almost 8 years of personal abstinence, I’m allowed to do that once and so the second grab for an extra-bright handheld was consequently the one for the Roccat Kone XP Air.
By the way, the basic condition was that both devices, matching the LED-free Nubert nuPro XS-8000 RC, come to the customer (i.e. me) in a white penitent shirt. That narrows down the selection quite a bit, and it was also one of the reasons to get back into Roccat after so many years. Whereby I am a bit saddened by Roccat’s path from startup from Germany to souvenir store on the turtle beach. But that’s the way of things and the products have naturally matured over the years.
And today I’m breaking with the tradition of wanting to cut everything. White hen with fresh egg in front of white wall? In the end, with a bit of bad luck, you only see the traces of the digestive end products and the details disappear in the infinite expanses of poor monitors. Therefore, I have turned my photo studio today exceptionally times in a black wall, so that one sees the parts also better. So don’t be alarmed, this has to be done today. Or, I photograph the parts right away on the gaming table in their new home.
And what else? You can read what I’ve been thinking about for my RGB wonderland and now describe it. Because besides shining, both mouse and keyboard can cost a lot more, unfortunately. The current store prices for the RGB Inferno are available in the usual price boxes (and yes, you have to be really brave):
Roccat Vulcan II Max weiß, LEDs RGB, TITAN II OPTICAL RED, USB, DE (ROC-12-021)
