If an artist creates limited editions, which are supposed to keep the price exclusively high, then it is actually common that after reaching the edition target, for example, the copper plates are made unusable. If not, then reprints must be marked as edition XXX and they then cost significantly less. This is also the case with other products such as vinyl records or even technical equipment up to graphics cards. At least it should be, but things often turn out differently than you think. But always one thing at a time…
A few months ago, PowerColor also launched a special edition of the Red Devil in Germany, limited to 1500 units and advertised as exclusive. The current price of just under 1500 Euros for an RX 7900XTX is quite sporty and definitely falls into the category of enthusiast price. After all, it’s now almost 300 Euros more than the “unlimited” card! But what is such a limitation actually worth? Basically nothing, and unfortunately, this can be easily understood. One of our readers bought card 222 out of 1500 and paid for the exclusivity.
What you get in the little case as a dowry is certainly nice to have, but 300 Euros for a foldable box with a few extras are certainly quite optimistic from the customer’s point of view. Apart from a slightly more elaborate graphics card holder and an exclusive backplate attachment, you only get the graphics card, so the price increase is primarily due to the limited quantity. But unfortunately, this card was also one of the famous hotspot victims.
The reader contacted PowerColor directly via the website and received a short but concrete answer: The dealer is solely responsible. Even though PowerColor communicated to me on site that it was different. You can hear it exactly:
The reader had attached the case from April and also the documentation of the problem with YouTube/Blogpost Link. The response from PowerColor was short: make an RMA through your dealer (in his case Mindfactory AG). The normal way is through the dealer, so you don’t have to complain.
Please apply the RMA service.
Every region has its own RMA policy and differs by local distributors and resellers.
The vendor where you purchased from has the obligation to service for you.
Thanks for your inquiry from PowerColor website.
And now? Just as a reminder: I had addressed the hotspot issue and also clarified it with PowerColor:
