After a long delay, the article on the new mice from NZXT is finally here. I teased them some time ago and have now finally found the time. Read on to find out what the two lightweight mice have to offer.
This review wasn’t actually planned as a separate article, but as is the case when I really get to grips with a product, there was suddenly no more room in the NZXT Function 2 keyboard review to do justice to these two input devices. To make sure the mice don’t miss out, I spontaneously put in a few night shifts to provide you with this reading material. Two years ago, Tim tested the first version of the LIFT, today we want to see how the gaming mouse has evolved.
Unboxing
The two test subjects in their home. The packaging comes in the usual simple design.
We can find the technical data on the side, but the twins differ only minimally in terms of shape.
The most important features are listed on the back and the illustration gives you a small taste of how the siblings differ.
Let’s take a look directly under the hood. Viewed from above, the differences are still very slight at first glance.
From the side, however, you can see that the SYMM is completely symmetrical, while the ERGO has a slightly more ergonomic shape on the left – the name really does say it all.
Both models come with paracord cables, which are not completely soft, but very flexible.
The profile of the mice is still very similar and NZXT again misses the opportunity to make the symmetrical version usable for left and right-handed users, as the shoulder buttons (e.g. forwards/backwards in the browser) are only on the left-hand side on both models.
When viewed from behind, the different design is more obvious. In the hand, the ERGO feels significantly higher than it appears in the photos.
The back of the SYMM is also considerably flatter:
And you can see it most clearly from the front. While the SYMM looks confusingly similar to its predecessor, the ERGO is somewhat reminiscent of Ephialtes from the action movie “300”.
However, the biggest changes have been made on the inside. The large Pixart PMW3395 sensor compensates for the omission of the discreet lighting of the previous model and the extra-airy base plate has saved a few more grams of weight.
As a result, the LIFT 2 weighs just 58 grams (61 grams for the ERGO), a saving of over 10% compared to the first generation.
