So far, we’ve basically only looked at high-end gaming or a content creator monitor. We have not yet tested a pure office monitor. So today is the day. The MSI Modern MD272QP from 2021 faces our test program. It is indeed – a pure office monitor, as you can find it in almost every office. Expectations should not be too high now. However, those who already have a QHD gaming monitor in 16:9 format and are still looking for a second one for Discord chat or other tasks might well be interested.
The MD272QP is certainly not a monitor you want to spend all day gaming on. This is not what this monitor was made for. The installed IPS panel comes from HKC Digital. Yes, that’s exactly how I looked at it. I have never heard of the manufacturer until this test. The subpixel layout is RGB, so text display is no problem at all.
The MD272QP (MD = Modern Series; 27 for size in inches; 2 = 2. Generation; Q = 2560 x 1440p resolution and the P = tilt, swivel and adjustable height), so the code is cracked. It essentially offers 75 Hz refresh rate, AMD FreeSync, 300 nits brightness, 1000:1 contrast, 4 ms pixel response time, and 95% sRGB color space coverage.
