Conclusion
The Maono PD400X definitely surprised me a bit. Not only does it make an extremely solid impression in terms of build quality, it also knows how to convince in terms of sound quality. The recordings speak for themselves and in my opinion, the Maono microphone does not need to hide from the Elgato DX microphone, which was recently found to be very good. I would even go so far as to give it an even better recording quality when connected via XLR interface.
Currently, you can only buy the microphone directly from the manufacturer (but it should also be available on Amazon soon), which lists a price of 167.95€. With the 10% discount currently available and free shipping, we end up at 151.15€. Whether the flexible connection options of XLR and USB are worth this price, you have to decide for yourself in the end. However, if you consider that the PD400X puts other XLR microphones in their place for a relatively small surcharge and can also be flexibly connected via USB, then the price at least no longer seems completely unrealistic.
Qualitatively and functionally, the Maono PD400X is convincing and definitely worth a look for podcasters and streamers.
