Allgemein Case Reviews System

Luminous glass vitrine with ATX dimensions | Corsair iCUE 5000X RGB review and usability test

If you now fire everything up with electricity, the system shines in the light of the various RGB LEDs. Especially the fans in the front already provide a bright illumination of the case’s interior.

Thanks to the integrated PWM hub, the speed of all fans can also be controlled centrally and made dependent on the CPU temperature, for example.

After mounting the darkened glass panels, the lighting appears even more high-quality and otherwise visible cables disappear elegantly in the darkness of the interior.

The power button is brightly and white illuminated and fits in with the external appearance during operation.

Conclusion

“Form over function” is one of those things that spontaneously comes to mind as the quintessence for the features of the Corsair iCUE 5000X RGB case, if you really want to be absolutely correct. But is that what you want as an end customer? For regular gamers who are more concerned with the appearance of their case and the color coordination of the LED lighting, there are other priorities on the wish list, as long as you’re not a consumer seeking total perfectionism or installing overly complex custom loop cooling. As we saw in today’s test, it is mainly the smaller details that are still a bit weak. But everything can be turned off or fixed, like the twisted adapter or running cables of pre-installed components….

Now, of course, one must never judge the performance alone without taking the price into account. The 190 and 155 Euros are Corsair’s recommended retail prices and since cases have been mostly spared from the recent hardware supply shortages, the 5000 models should be available for about that. In fact, the iCUE 5000X RGB variant with its four glass panels, three included RGB fans and RGB controller seems to be the more sensible model option for only 35 Euros more. Nevertheless, a base price of 155 euros for a midi tower with restrictions on the installation of two 360 mm radiators is only acceptable if you do not need exactly these features and can otherwise turn a blind eye.

One is, also and especially as a reviewer, of course well advised to draw attention to such errors in a new product, so that they can be corrected. Corsair has been an established name in the hardware industry for decades and is also known for high-quality cases. The 5000D, 5000D Airflow and iCUE 5000X RGB series cases certainly need some fine tuning to be able to play in this league without reservation, although the approach is quite good. But we know: devil, being and details….

In the end, everyone has to know for themselves where they set their priorities when buying and where they are willing to make concessions, because many things are more a matter of eyes than a purely rational decision. Corsair can certainly score points with the target group, since the choice of case is determined by subjective taste and many potential buyers are also looking for the interaction of hardware and software. Keyword iCue. As long as you prioritize design and lighting and don’t mind the odd compatibility hurdle, you’re guaranteed to be happy with the Corsair iCUE 5000X.

Case, power supply and AIO were provided by Corsair. No influence was exerted on the test.
