Rating
To make the monitors comparable, you have to rate them. For this purpose, my rating looks like this:
The DeltaE values that a monitor achieves on factory settings – without calibration, in SDR, in the sRGB color space regarding Gray Scale; Saturation and ColorChecker – go into a comparison chart and at the end also in the individual rating and the conclusion. Why only in the sRGB color space now? Because this is the minimum standard for every monitor. A wide gamut (e.g. 100% sRGB, 99% Adobe RGB and 96% P3 see PG279QM) is not yet standard!
Fazit
Calman Ultimate from Portrait Displays offers the best analysis and calibration scope on the market and makes my work much easier. The display of the measurement results is much simpler and concentrates clearly on the essentials. With Calman Ultimate, we are optimally positioned for the future when it comes to color performance for monitors.
Now it should be clear how I will organize the monitor articles regarding the SDR color performance in the future. What exactly I do and what it means should be clear now. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the forum. The Calman Ultimate software can be purchased via Portrait Displays.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Tim Schiesser from Hardware Unboxed. Tim helped me a lot with the initial problems regarding Calman Ultimate. Greetings go to Tim and Steve in Australia!
Calman Ultimate was provided, in partnership and technical cooperation, by Portrait Displays for our monitor tests.
