ColorChecker
The ColorChecker is about color fidelity. In the end, this means that the monitor can reproduce the colors accurately. In general, you should be able to see the difference from a DeltaE > 3. Since it is purely subjective, it doesn’t necessarily mean that everyone will perceive it. However, an evaluation always requires basics/limits including tolerances. I will come back to this later.
In the case of color fidelity, I set the condition – as I did for Saturation: Avg. DeltaE < 2.5 and Max. < 4.5
Screen Uniformity
Uniformity tells us how uniform a display is.
The number in the center of each box shows the deviation (DeltaE 2000) from the center. The numbers – highlighted in black between the boxes – indicate the deviation from box to box. Pay attention: DeltaE does not behave linearly.
The deviation between the field with 5.5 and the field 2.7 is DeltaE 3.5 and who now gets the idea: Hää, but mathematically is 5.5 – 2.7 = 2.8 Yes, the equation is correct, but does not fit for the example shown. In school I would say F and sit down! Here is the calculation formula for DeltaE:
Simplified: The formula looks only a little bit different than x – y = z 😊
