Soundcheck
Here is an audio sample of the keyboard, bare on the table and in a flat position. The volume was digitally increased, even with fast keystrokes the SK622 does not get loud.

Software
The program with the sonorous name “Cooler Master MasterPlus+” can be downloaded directly from the product page. It only works in wired mode and under Windows, although the keyboard is actually designed for use under macOS as well. Despite the small keyboard, the control software is quite bloated and gobbles up memory in background mode. And you also occupy 760 Mbytes of hard disk space, since all libraries for the entire Cooler Master peripheral range are also installed.
But then the range of functions is good and everything is clearly laid out. Various languages are also offered. Settings can be stored directly in the keyboard’s internal memory, and in addition to general settings like backlight and sleep timer, all keys can be remapped, macros can be recorded, and profiles can be created. By the way, you can also switch between the profiles automatically by starting a definable .exe, which can be very useful.
So if the regular multiple assignment is not enough for you, you can let off steam even more. In the main window of the program there is real-time monitoring of various temperature sensors and other values, which in my opinion could have been saved.
Summary and conclusion
Of course, evaluating a keyboard that doesn’t fit me and my workflow at all is a bit difficult. Objectively, it’s well made, comes with all sorts of features and doesn’t make any major blunders. Some quirks like the Bluetooth-only N-Key rollout thing you have to figure out first, though. Even though the battery got me through a week of evening gaming just fine, a dead battery in the middle of a PUBG match was still very inconvenient. Someone else then had to take over the driving, as I could no longer accelerate and steer to the right at the same time.
If you can get used to the 60% layout and don’t forget to charge before important gaming sessions, you can be happy with this keyboard. Especially for a portable ITX/SFF system it is a good choice, transport bag is included. If a certain virus should ever disappear and LAN parties become possible again, this keyboard would be a suitable companion.
According to the manufacturer’s website, the SK622 is also available in white and in a variant with brown and blue switches, but these do not seem to be available in Germany so far. The price is of course considerable for so “little” keyboard, but not unusual for this form factor. For niche products, you usually have to dig a little deeper into your pocket and a 60% keyboard with a German layout is rare.
By the way, we also had the predecessor and the bigger version: Cooler Master SK630 and SK621 in test
The test samples are purchased by ourselves or provided by the manufacturers without obligation. There is no influence on the tests and results. An expense allowance is only paid in exceptional cases, but is shown and also has no influence on the test results.
