The preface and introduction is the same as in Full-HD and QHD, so I’ll save the now triple text. However, the CPU’s influence is now completely negligible, so the bars shift a tiny bit more among each other.
Sum of all games
The RX 7800XT sim. (red bar) once again corresponds to the benchmarked Radeon Pro W7800 with half the memory. The RX 7800XT calc. (orange bar) was subsequently extrapolated based on the efficiency of an RX 7900XT (Watts per FPS), which yields quite plausible results.
We see that the Radeon Pro W7800 is now 3.9% faster than the old RX 6800XT, but (we’ll see this in a moment) consumes significantly less power in return. The calculated card with the efficiency of the RDNA3 gaming cards now pushes itself very clearly ahead of an RX 6900XT with a whopping 12.5 percent lead in Full HD. However, it is also a fact that the performance of the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti is again visibly missed, but the RTX 4070 can be safely beaten in return.
Let’s now look at the Min-FPS, i.e. the one percent of the slowest rendered frames (P1 Low). Here the RX 7800XT sim. namely a measured 4.3 percent ahead of the RX 6800XT and the RX 7800XT calc. after all already 110.5 percent.
Even though I’ll have a very detailed chapter on power consumption and load peaks later (be sure to read it!), I also recorded the power consumption over every benchmark for this gaming selection and cumulated it at the end, so that a very clear picture already emerges here. The RX 7800XT sim. again doesn’t even come close to the power limit of 260 watts and the extrapolated RX 7800XT calc. would exceed this limit for the first time with around 262 watts. So, a bit of crowbar is always possible.
We can see from the efficiency calculation that the calculated RX 7800XT acts similar to the Radeon Pro W7800 under full load, which runs at the limit. However, it could be that a real RX 7800XT could even be a bit more inefficient then (salvage). But it is and remains an (idealized) extrapolation (rather in AMD’s favor).
