In terms of dimensions and cooler compatibility, the modules in the A0 design are of course optimal and really only limited to the necessary stuff. At 133.4 mm in length and 31.4 mm in height, these spartan modules should fit in just about any tight build. The disadvantage is, of course, that no heat spreader or cooler is included and you have to take care of the cooling yourself when overclocking with higher voltages.
It should then be noted that the inductors of the PMIC are still the highest components on the board with a total thickness of approx. 2.5 mm and the ICs sit 0.3 mm lower. A recess for the PMIC in the upper half of the cooler is therefore still necessary here. The ICs themselves are also identical in dimensions to their predecessors with 9.5 x 11.0 mm package size.
SPD information
For the SPD, we use the new release of HWinfo today, which can now also correctly read the capacity and stepping of DDR5 ICs. Unfortunately, the best software is only as good as the values provided by the hardware and since SK Hynix did not fill the DRAM stepping field or left it at the default F.F, only N/A is returned here. In the Asus Worktool, the DRAM stepping field is then simply empty here, as we have unfortunately already seen with some other DDR5 kits.
However, here we find the part number of the modules again HMCG78AGBUA081N and the manufacturing date week 28, 2022. Furthermore, there is again the confirmation here that 8 ICs with 16 Gbit capacity and x8 bit organization form the 16 GB single-rank modules. After the specifications for the DDR5-5600 JEDEC timings, there is then the information about the other construction components of the sticks. The SPD comes from Montage Technology and is a common candidate for DDR5.
The PMIC is identified here as IDT PMIC51000 Small PMIC, which we already know from the package as P8911Y. In fact, Renesas bought out IDT, which should explain this relationship. In conclusion, the modules and ICs do not have their own temperature sensors and rely only on the SPD’s integrated one, with the maximum temperature specified as XT with 0 – 95 °C.
