Summary
What did I blaspheme in the launch article about the inflated GeForce GTX 1650, which made one particularly important with a swollen chest, without ever being able to prove the promise of real deeds. This card here, which also does not require any further power supply and can only be fed gallantly via the motherboard, is different. It is small, handy, lightweight and really nice entry-level compatible. You have to get that first.
Of course, a Radeon RX 570 with 4 GB of memory is much cheaper to get, but this discussion about the Radeon as an alternative is completely obsolete, at least for the target group of the card tested today. This green poison dwarf is still surprisingly nimble for its 62 watts power consumption, takes hardly any space away, can be plugged into almost every cheap box from the usual discounters as an upgrade option and in case of emergency does not even need a Molex-to-PCIe adapter if the power supply does not provide a 6-pin connector.
Per | Cons |
– No separate power connection – Very economical with the maximum measured 62 watts – Very compact dimensions – Not excessively noisy – Relatively cheap – Appropriate components |
– Slightly buzzing fan motor – Only two video outputs |
As long as the card with the VBIOS is still compatible with the motherboard, the small PNY card can be plugged in almost anywhere. And that’s what makes it smart and makes them more interesting than the visual first impression might suggest. No, this is not a high-end and some people will probably even rub their noses. But arrogance is completely out of place, because even such cards have their real justification. Only the lack of connection variety is due to the price and slot bezel, but for a larger multi-monitor setup this card is certainly not intended either.
Conclusion
Ideal part for upgraders and retrofitters, as well as all those who would like to have a dedicated card, because they are already severely limited by the onboard graphics. Even gaming is still going quite neatly, as the benchmarks show. And because the card is also really good enough and has not been screwed up pointlessly, it has honestly earned the purchase tip. If there is a GeForce GTX 1650, then at least one and no RGB-doped cheating pack. Because overclocking brings hardly anything in this card class, except certain side effects. Some manufacturers should think about this.
