GPUs Hardware Reviews

Unjustly misunderstood: PNY GTX 1650 XLR8 OC in review – pure use without external supply connection

It is still incomprehensible to me why at the launch of the GeForce GTX 1650 almost exclusively models with external power supply were offered for testing. The cards, which in my view are much more interesting, are exactly the cards without external supply. If an almost tiny card comes out, it is all the more interesting for upstarts in the entry-level segment.

If you compare what performance you achieve with a much more expensive and also thirstier interpretation of a GeForce GTX 1650 with external power supply, then the 3.6 to 4.1% performance plus determined there are actually a slap in the face each (more) paying buyer. The continuous boost clock from 1830 to 1860 MHz is sufficient to keep sight of the foot horns that compete on steroids.

Because one thing is also fact: there is not a single title that would be playable on one card and not on the other. The measured differences are far too small to be able to record real class differences. The “smaller” card without additional power doping is therefore the smarter alternative that also fits into (almost) any PC.
