Conclusion
The Ceres 500 is a very well thought-out and well-designed case. With a self-confident price of 179.90€, Thermaltake also had to deliver, because if you hover in the spheres of Corsair, Fractal Design and Co. in terms of price, you should have something to offer. The four included 140mm ARGB fans relativize the price a bit, but you still have to be willing to spend 180€ for a case.
For the money, you get a sturdily constructed, well-made and very spacious case with all sorts of refinements. Larger custom loops with 2x360mm or 420+280mm radiators can be easily accommodated in the Ceres 500 and due to the ample width, even vertically installed thick graphics cards can still breathe halfway despite the space for cable management behind the motherboard. The installed fans create a noticeable draft in the case even at low speeds, which means that even air-cooled systems don’t miss out. Practically every opening is equipped with a dust filter, and the Ceres’ many flaps and openings make it easy to get to many places that you often have to break your fingers for in other cases. Anyone who has ever had to connect an additional cable to the modular power supply on a finished system knows what I mean.
With the rotatable PCIe bracket for vertical installation of the graphics card, the colorfully illuminated ARGB fans and the optional LCD display, the Ceres 500 is definitely addressed to the show and shine faction and stands in stark contrast to the recently reviewed very decent Fractal North. And from the point of view of an RGB advocate, the Ceres is also quite respectable.
I would only have criticism on the highest level for the missing ARGB controller and the somewhat unusual design decision with the small “tray” at the bottom of the front. However, the latter is a matter of taste and does not change the fact that the Ceres 500 is a great case.
The case was provided by Thermaltake for this review. The only condition was compliance with the blocking period; there was no influence or remuneration.
