Now let’s get to some numbers first. The dimensions of the Q58 are 170 x 250 x 342 mm (W x H x D). Based on these dimensions, we can also see that the whole thing is already kept very compact and the fear could arise that there is not much space in the case. However, this is a bit deceiving, because even graphics cards with a length of up to 325 mm still have enough room due to the 2-chamber design and don’t die a suffocating death. With 14.5-L volume, the Q58 is certainly not the smallest case, but is still in the classic Mini-ITX range with a bit more internal volume.
However, Lian Li goes its own way when it comes to design , also and because of the double-sided panel design. These panels can be arranged differently depending on preference or requirement – at least on the side where the GPU is located. The side panels are divided into two parts and can be conveniently interchanged.
Whether we want a full mesh side or rather everything made of glass or mesh on the top or bottom, that’s up to everyone to decide, and it certainly hasn’t been done in this variety before.
The workmanship is also impeccable, and you won’t find any flabby Coke can sheet metal here. The front of the case can be removed with a jerk. You just have to have a little courage. There we then have access to the SSD cage.
Which brings us to a special feature of the case: The SSD cage has a hot swap function! Both ports are located in the cage to connect the SSD.
But why would you actually want to remove this SSD cage now? This is then due to another feature of the case. The so-called ATX mode. By replacing the upper bracket in the lid and removing the power supply frame for SFX power supplies, a completely normal standard ATX power supply can now be installed here. Personally, I still don’t understand the sense behind it (because there are enough SFX power supplies), since we lose two fan slots and the hot-swap cage of the SSD. But you don’t have to understand all that and, as always, you can argue about sense and nonsense.
