Color performance with D65 and Full Calibration
As always, I calibrate to the D65 at gamma 2.2, so we get even more out of the panel in the DCI-P3 color space. Basically, only the gamma tracking needs to be improved.
OSD Setting D65 @ User Profile
My settings for the perfect white point are basically the same as Corsair’s standard except for 99 red.
Gray Scale, Saturation and ColorChecker (Default Mode) after a full calibration to DCI-P3 (D65 and Gamma 2.2) with Calman Ultimate
The result is okay, but you should not expect values that are equal to a reference monitor at this point. From my point of view, the Xeneon Flex is only conditionally suitable for work. Color-critical work should not be done on this monitor, because working in the 100 percent window is difficult with the aggressive ABL anyway. However, in order to enjoy the desired SDR content as color-true as possible, the uncalibrated result is also sufficient from my point of view. What I can definitely imagine would be the topic of video editing. The sheer size of the panel should be particularly suitable for this – if you leave colorgrading aside.
Uniformity
My sample was without any major or noticeable abnormalities and measured against the size of the panel – the uniformity is really very good. That’s all that needs to be said about it.
Image errors
Dead pixels were not an issue, even using NVIDIA or AMD graphics cards runs basically smoothly. VRR flicker can occur in some games, but only in the menu area if you don’t use a frame limiter in the menu. Basically, only the ABL and the subpixel layout are really annoying.
With Windows Cleartype you can remedy this – then it gets a little better. If you display texts somewhat enlarged (zoom), this also helps. Or if you are not hanging 30 cm in front of the display and intentionally looking for problem! Furthermore, I know from a reliable source that LG is currently working on a solution regarding text rendering. When the solution should come, that one could not tell me unfortunately yet. At least LG is obviously proactive in addressing the issue – and that is a good thing.
Sound reproduction
Sound can only be played via 3.5 mm jack. Or, you can use a dongle/USB headset via USB hub, which the Xeneon Flex comes with. Both work flawlessly.
Webcam and Microphone
They are not installed, so we can move on to the topic of HDR. Turn the page please…
