Optics and haptics
As you might expect in this price range, the Fera 5 is kept quite simple. A black plastic cover with the SilentiumPC logo adorns the top, but otherwise there are no additional frills.
Supposedly the cooler is asymmetrical, but it looks pretty symmetrical to me. In any case, the serrated pattern of the cooling fins, which the Grandis 3 already had, is interesting.
With the two Fluctus 120 PWM fans in push/pull, a good overall picture is created, which should fit most systems. On the side of the upper side, you even specify in which direction the fans are to be mounted.
On the underside we find the Direct-Touch contact surface, which on my copy still had some residue from the manufacturer. Once wiped over with the isopropanol cloth and they are gone.
The workmanship of the cooler is averagely good, for the price there is nothing to complain about. The lamellae are pointed due to their special shape, but without intent you will hardly be able to hurt yourself on them. Regarding the Direct-Touch “Coldplate”, I would still have wished that the contact surface had been better pressed. It is already quite small and then you “lose” something again through the gaps between the individual heatpipes.
