Important preliminary remark
We are doing the same with benchmarks as in the previous launch test. In the end, there are only 10 specially selected games, but I have chosen these again from over 20 titles and the pre-tests with several cards as examples, because the result was almost exactly the same in the end. The weighting between the titles with pure raster graphics completely without DXR and with DXR or DirectX12 features was done in a ratio of 6:4, whereby the titles and the implementation are very different.
DXR is being implemented in more and more games and almost all current engines now support it. From this point of view, it would be just as unfair to do without it completely as to only use such titles with DXR. As every user has different preferences and some prefer to do without DXR completely (why is that?), I am once again accommodating all target groups, but have tightened the reins a little. DLSS up to version 3.5 and FSR2/FSR3 including frame generation from both providers are now also included.
Sum of all games
The RX 7900GRE with factory OC takes just 3.4 percent from the RX 7800XT MBA (reference), which is downright sobering in view of the theoretical extra performance. Yes, it beats a GeForce RTX 4070 Non-Super in the sum of all games, but it’s definitely not enough for the Super-Refresh.
In the P1, there is even a tie with the RTX 4070 Non-Super and only a 2 percent lead over the RX 7800XT.
The power consumption is at least slightly lower than that of the Nitro.
Nevertheless, the efficiency doesn’t look quite as good as with the NVIDIA cards
