Roccat Burst Pro Review – Smooth gliding lightweight

Optics & Haptics

The Burst Pro is available in either black or white, and the prices are identical at the time of testing. Matte plastic with a glossy hexagon pattern was used on the left and right. Both mouse buttons and the back are made of semi-transparent plastic to let the light of the RGB LEDs shine through. By the way, the base for the mouse wheel and DPI button is also plastic, but with a “brushed” look. On the underside, in addition to the glide pads and their protective film, there is also a sticker with various seals, serial number and of course the Roccat Owl-Eye (PMW3389) sensor to examine.

Despite the symmetrical design, the Burst Pro is also more suitable for right-handed users due to the keys being located on the right. The slightly raised rear end fits my palm grip well, but the mouse could almost be a bit bigger – for my taste, anyway.

The mouse wheel supports “only” 2 ways and clicking, lateral tilting is not possible. With only 68g the Burst Pro is really very light and glides smoothly on a bare table as well as on a mouse pad. Horizontal movement is minimally easier than vertical. The cable lives up to its name and really behaves like a phantom: No cable drag even with fast movements, so I think a mouse bungee is unnecessary. Despite the rather smooth material, the mouse always feels good in the hand.

As far as build quality is concerned, there is nothing negative to report. The only conspicuous feature is the rear side button, which is a bit easier to press than the front one.
