Where is the CPU limit now?
Overwatch isn’t the first time I’ve had it in my latency tests. In Overwatch 1 I had to force an RTX 3080 into the GPU limit in UHD with triple buffering, etc. In Overwatch 2, an RTX 3070 Ti still runs fully into the GPU limit even in 1080p. Why is that? It is not clear to me what has changed on the test map. Presumably, they simply increased the resource requirements for Overwatch 2 to slowly get users of older GPUs to buy new hardware. I can’t explain it any other way…
Every 240 Hz monitor is happy about that..
You can see that we are still far away from the CPU limit. What else stands out? That the RTX 3070 Ti user in UHD with Reflex on – still has better latencies than the RX 6700 XT user in Full HD. Even though the RX 6700 XT now delivers over 100 FPS more than the RTX 3070 Ti in UHD. This is a real humiliation, there is no other way I can express it.
