Metro 2033: Ingenious End Time Drama with Tunnel View and Lots of Information about The Story and Location | 10 years ago

Pretty much exactly 10 years ago, I not only played and benchmarked Metro 2033, but also examined the story behind it. Because I was not only once in Moscow and know the also Metro from my own excursions quite well. I was also able to find something new, because as a student and foreigner, in the days of the Soviet regime, one always had the ubiquitous watchdog beside you and the information was, let's say politely, filtered a little. But I, too, have been walking in the tubes before - without a comfortable train and coin insertion.

Leaving aside the DirectX11 problems, you can tolerate the small weaknesses in balancing and the somewhat too linear sequence – you really couldn't have implemented a book like this more aptly. We find the game even fresher and a little more short-breathed than the sometimes very rolled-out novel template, especially since we had the book through faster than the game.

The game could become a real classic after some patches (AI, level balancing). Due to the hardware requirements, it has already secured a place in the benchmark parkours of the big game sites, at least now. But this alone is unlikely to do justice to the game and its excellent plot.

Yes, it was fun. It was varied. It was refreshingly different. And if we go down the endless escalators in Moscow's metro and then look into one of the tunnel tubes, we will certainly remember Artyom and look for cracks in the ceiling. Thanks for this amazing game!

But we still have to ask a pointed question:

How the hell did Artyom come to the surface so quickly and lightly? Anyone who once had the pleasure of overcoming the difference in height of more than 50 metres on foot on one of the rickety escalators (because something was defective) would have had a God mode desperately needed. This, in turn, can be easily obtained by changing the user.cfg. How does this work? Google is the friend of all escalator drivers.
