The PC as a train – A very special kind of mobile Computing with the Lian Li PC-CK101

Packaging and scope of delivery

The box as such looks quite handy, it is and still contains everything you need. Enough Taiwanese air included, because there is still enough free space inside and you also quickly realize that this must be a rather small representative of railroad history.

No crumb polystyrene, but foamed PE and cardboard are used to stabilize the packed components; so Lian Li is already assured of the room attendants’ thanks. Plus point entered in the system. Besides the already mentioned air and packaging aids, I find a rail for the proper placement of the train, a somewhat thin manual in the form of a slip of paper, enough screws and also rubbers for the hard drive decoupling, a mounting bracket for the train and even a small piezo speaker. So, it does work.

The train, consisting of locomotive and trailer, is already pre-assembled and is plugged together in the PE frame. All parts are neatly packed in individual foils or bags, so that even the dust had no chance.

The bottom line is that this is a case like any other, at least as far as the packaging and the scope of delivery are concerned.

Well, stop, not quite! So that I do not damage the good (and sensitive) piece when mounting the components later (paint!), I have to handle it a little differently this time.

A blanket or, as in my case, a large thick cushion helps immensely to avoid scratching the individual case parts when turning and twisting. At least I managed to reach the finish line scratch-free, even after rebuilding three times. Why actually three times? On the one hand, I tested two mainboards and later made the track mobile as well, which also required a rebuild. Roof more about this later. First of all, the car needs juice.
