Space for radiators
Because it was asked in the forum and I was interested in it myself, I also unceremoniously made the effort to equip the Torrent with different radiators.
First of all: When mounting a radiator in the bottom of the Torrent, it can quickly come to blockages of motherboard connectors! Especially, of course, if rigid USB cables have to be connected there, for example.
First, I had an expansion tank installed, took the 180 fans out of the front, and installed a 420mm radiator on the bottom.
Because the 420 radiator takes up the entire floor space and the adapter rails for mounting conventional 140/120mm fans in the front cannot be mounted additionally, no other radiator with 140/120mm width can be mounted without tinkering. By using the Dremel or the Flex, a compact 360x180mm radiator could possibly be mounted, but I wouldn’t put my hand in the fire for that!
The two 180 fans in the front would fit despite the 420 radiator installed in the bottom. There would be enough space for a 360x180mm slim radiator (therefore two 38mm thick fans on top of each other), but the radiator would collide with the frame and some material would have to be removed.
When mounting the 420 radiator in the front, one is only marginally more flexible. Of course, the two 180mm fans would then fit below, but there would be no room for a 360x180mm radiator here either, and at this point even the Dremel couldn’t make it work.
420mm radiator in the front and 360mm radiator in the bottom, on the other hand, fits easily.
Whereby even that is quite a bit of millimetre work!
Unfortunately I don’t have dual 140mm and dual 180mm radiators handy, otherwise I could have tested more scenarios. It is possible that exactly the two mentioned would fit at the same time. However, in this case I would probably still go for the definitely suitable combination of 420+360mm radiators, because there is a wide range of (quiet!) fans available.
