Summary
Well, exotics always have it a little easier, of course, because they are something different and can therefore already score a little outside the competition. But what do you get now if you look at it unemotionally? Visually and haptically, the predominantly white Colorful iGame GeForce RTX 3050 8GB is okay, and you don’t need three fans and pointless gaming attitudes including countless LED spotlights. The cooling is sufficiently sized, but could act a bit quieter. Thus, a graphics card can quite happily come to the customer, even that with the self-import is always such a thing. You really have to be lucky, because prices in Asia are currently higher than here. So this will have to be weighed on a case-by-case basis, including the rather high delivery times.
Especially at lower resolutions in Full HD (and in certain games also in WQHD with DLSS), this card is quite a viable alternative in the entry-level segment. Sure, you might want to set the presets of some AAA titles to Normal or Medium when it comes to higher FPS rates, but many things are still playable on Maximum or High. Especially DLSS has never been as valuable for this battle dwarf as it is today. If you rather focus on performance and dampen the other settings a bit (as well as completely forgo the DXR effects), you can even keep up with the flow quite well in WQHD in the appropriate games.
Otherwise, DLSS in WQHD also allows DXR in lower levels, which was probably the intention. If you have also looked at the page with the variances in the launch article, you will also have seen that there is quite a round image gradient here for the GeForce RTX 3050. The FPS or percentiles are still much too rough intervals to be able to depict this very subjective impression well.
Yes, you can even work quite quickly with the card and non-gamers will be quite happy because the wallet will be relieved significantly with a bit of luck. Because if the software does not require a certified driver, even CAD applications usually run smoothly. Office works anyway, and all the AI stuff is fully supported as well. Which, of course, also applies to video editing. In general, the RTX 3050 does not cut a bad figure, even though it lacks power for higher resolutions above Full HD without DLSS.
Conclusion and final remarks
The Colorful iGame GeForce RTX 3050 8GB is not a bad card, as it combines the entry-level RTX world with at least a small touch of visual difference and the knowledge of having something different from the mass of gamers in Germany stuck in the computer. For a final assessment, including the market positioning, you will have to keep an eye on the prices in Asia including additional costs, which are currently quite steep at over 400 Euros. However, Colorful can do rather less for that, so you have to be fair, of course.
