Beelink SER4 Mini-PC Review – Massive upgrade to the predecessor

Squeezing so much performance into an (almost) pocket size actually suggests that cooling will be critical. But neither the measured volume nor the temperatures give me a reason to criticize. Beelink has even set the R7 4800U in the SER4 to the highest available cTDP of 25 watts in the BIOS ex-works, standard would be 15 watts.

If you take a look at the direct comparison to the predecessor in Timespy comparison or PCMark comparison, the difference in CPU performance in particular is really remarkable. But that is hardly surprising considering the double number of cores and threads.

But there was also a good performance boost in terms of graphics performance. A worthy successor in all areas, which offers more performance with the same small size and low consumption – thanks to AMD. In terms of price, the new model’s MSRP is 50€ higher than the SER3’s 489€, which is 539€. With about 5-6 watts in desktop idle and a peak consumption of 34.1 watts in Prime95 for the entire system, the power bill doesn’t make us poor either. 

In the meantime, Beelink has opened its own store on Amazon, so you don’t necessarily have to order directly from the manufacturer’s site in the Far East. There it would be clearly cheaper at first, but with customs duties the final price rises again.

All in all, the SER4 Mini-PC can convince if you have chosen this niche of the hardware world. The price/performance is just a completely different one compared to desktop systems with an ATX form factor. If the goal is to enable as much CPU power as possible in the smallest space, then Beelink sends the new supercar into the race here.
