Haptics
Although the construction is quite delicate and the headset is also made of plastic to a large extent, it feels quite valuable overall. The padding on the earpiece and ear cups is thick and snug, and the cover material is so soft it’s almost a little sticky to the touch.
The latching of the adjustable bracket is clearly noticeable and reliably prevents accidental adjustment. In contrast, the microphone’s thin arm almost looks a bit unkindly attached.
Comfort
At this point, you can clearly see where the manufacturer can make use of its experience and where there is still something to learn. The headset sits very well on the head, the ear pads are soft and comfortable, and the ear cups are sufficiently large for my ears. Yes, comfort is almost as subjective as sound, but for my head it just fits very well. It could possibly get a bit warm under the very well-shielding ear pads in summer, but sweaty ear pads could simply be wiped off with a damp cloth. I’d still like some velour/textile pads as an alternative, because I just prefer wearing them despite their poorer shielding.
The two joints on the ear cups ensure a perfect fit of the headphones. Both the angle and the inclination adapt perfectly to the shape of the head.
But…
However, there is a not insignificant BUT. In fact, Austrian Audio decided to lead the cable out of the right ear cup and then make it only 1.4m long, which is why it is practically impossible to lay the cable over the shoulder to the back and lead it to the sound card or audio interface, for example. This might not be a problem with audiophile headphones for listening to music, but in a gaming scenario it’s conceivably bad. The cable hangs in the right hand for 90% of the time and this is very annoying when using the mouse! For lefties, however, the PG16 could turn out to be the ideal headset, since they should otherwise have the same problem most of the time that I encountered as a righty with the cable coming out of the right ear cup.
